AUTOMOTIVE SCIENCE GROUP AWARDS THE TITLE OF “BEST ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE” TO THE 2016 NISSAN LEAF

BEST- ENVIRONMENTAL

Consumers have changed their standards over the last few years when it comes to buying cars. They value environmentally-friendly vehicles because in addition to saving drivers money on gas and maintenance, these cars also shrink their owners’ carbon footprints. Nissan has risen to this demand with the Nissan LEAF, an electric vehicle (EV) that has sold more than 172,000 units since its 2010 debut.

BEST ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE AWARD

Every year, the Automotive Science Group (ASG) hands out the best environmental awards to deserving vehicles. The 2016 LEAF received this honor as well as the title of best all-around performance car. The ASG uses a set of strict standards when evaluating vehicles for environmental friendliness, fuel efficiency, and general performance, and the LEAF swiftly rose above the competition thanks to its ingenious design and reliable efficiency.

According to the ASG, the LEAF delivers 126 mpg in the city and 101 mpg on the open road. While this isn’t the only factor that influenced its decision, it’s important to note that many other cars on the road get fewer than 30 miles to the gallon. Drivers can rely on the LEAF to get them where they need to go without putting a serious dent in their bank accounts.

A TRADITION OF EFFICIENCY

The LEAF has earned this award because of its innovative design and functionality. According to the ASG, it “hold[s] the smallest life-cycle carbon footprint of any model year 2016 automobile available in the North American market.” The organization further notes that that toll that battery manufacturing takes on the environment is far smaller than the damage inflicted by non-EV cars, even when you take into consideration the electricity required to charge the vehicle.

This isn’t the first time the Nissan LEAF has taken home the top award for environmental performance. It has also amassed a slew of other awards, such as the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame Car of the Year Award in 2011 and 2012 and the 2011 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show. The tradition of efficiency continues with the 2016 model year, which has brought extra features to the lineup and provided consumers with a reliable and cost-effective car.

ENVIRONMENT - SAFE

KEEPING THE ENVIRONMENT SAFE

The LEAF doesn’t just get great gas mileage. Whether you’re commuting to work or taking a road trip with friends, the LEAF emits zero CO2 and does not produce exhaust. You can feel confident that your journey won’t contribute to environmental problems like ozone layer depletion and global warming.

Additionally, Nissan has factored the environment into its manufacturing process. The LEAF’s assembly process uses fewer non-renewable resources than other vehicles, and much fewer carbon emissions result from its manufacturing than from the manufacturing of non-EV cars.

If you’re looking for a reliable vehicle that looks great on the road and has a positive impact on the environment, the 2016 Nissan LEAF is a solid contender.
